VRF and VRV design software for UK installers
Lay out the refrigerant network — outdoor, branch joints, branch controllers and an indoor unit per room — on the rooms you surveyed, and see what breaks the manufacturer's limits before you price the job.
In development. The network builder and limit checks are live on every job; pipe sizing and refrigerant charge are being brought in. Daikin VRV IV is the first catalogue loaded.
From survey to a checked network
- Step 1
Survey the rooms
Each room's heat load, selected indoor unit and volume come from the job — nothing is typed in twice.
- Step 2
Build the tree
Hang branch joints, branch controllers and indoor units beneath the outdoor, each with its leg length and rise.
- Step 3
Pick an outdoor
Choose from the Daikin VRV IV RXYTQ range (8–16 HP, 22.4–45 kW) to check the design against.
- Step 4
Read the verdict
Checks out, needs review, or cannot be installed as designed — with every issue listed, worst first.
A tree, not a drawing you can break
A VRF system is one main that splits at refnets until every branch reaches an indoor unit, and each leg carries everything downstream of it. Vento edits it that way: everything is added beneath something that already exists, so a unit fed from two places or a loop in the pipework cannot be built in the first place. Undo steps back through every edit, and a piping schematic shows what connects to what.
The figures on each indoor unit are read from its room, not copied into the design. Re-run the heat loss, change the selected unit or correct a ceiling height and the network reflects it — and room volume comes from the room's real outline rather than its bounding box.
Checked against the outdoor's published limits
Choose a Daikin RXYTQ outdoor and the design is checked against the figures in Daikin's installer reference guide. A system can pass three length limits and fail the fourth, so each is checked on its own.
- Connection ratio inside the 50–130% band
- Up to 64 indoor units on one outdoor
- 1000 m total pipework, 165 m to the farthest indoor
- 40 m after the first branch, flagged as conditional up to 90 m
- 50 m above and 40 m below the outdoor; 30 m between indoors
- Mixed manufacturers on one circuit, and branch controllers on a 2-pipe outdoor

Frequently asked questions
Is VRF design ready to use in Vento?
It is live on every job and marked as in development. Today you can build the refrigerant network on the job's surveyed rooms, save one or more systems per job, see a piping schematic, and check the design against a Daikin VRV IV outdoor's published connection, length and height limits. Per-leg pipe sizing, the refrigerant charge and the checks that depend on it are still being brought in, and the app says so on screen rather than showing a figure it cannot stand behind.
Does it support Daikin VRV and Mitsubishi City Multi?
Daikin VRV, yes: the outdoor catalogue is the VRV IV heat pump range, RXYTQ 8–16 HP, with its limits taken from Daikin's installer reference guide. Mitsubishi City Multi, Toshiba, LG, Samsung and Panasonic systems are not in the catalogue yet. Line sizes and limits differ by manufacturer and by series, and Vento does not guess them, so other brands will be added only from their published data.
Does it size refnets and pipework, and work out the refrigerant charge?
The engine sizes each leg from the capacity downstream of it, using Daikin's own line tables, and totals the additional charge from the liquid line — but on live jobs this does not yet complete for every leg. Where a pipe size or the charge cannot be established, Vento shows "not established" with the reason, never a zero or a placeholder, because that figure goes on to set the F-Gas leak-check interval.
How does it connect to quoting and F-Gas records?
The VRF design sits on the same job as the survey, so the rooms it uses are the rooms you quote. The proposal is built and e-signed on that job like any other, with VRF kit priced from your own materials list and labour — Vento holds no VRV price list and will not invent one. Once installed, the system belongs in the F-Gas register with its refrigerant, charge and leak-check schedule.
How much does it cost?
VRF design is part of the platform, not a separate add-on. Plans start at £39 a month billed annually (£49 month to month), and the Professional plan is £149 a month for 3 seats. Every plan has a 14-day free trial.
