Card payments for air conditioning installers
Connect your own Stripe account to Vento and take the deposit by card on the proposal your customer just signed — on the driveway, not three emails later. Klarna comes with the same connection.
How it works
- 1
Connect your own Stripe account
In Settings → Payments, connect through Stripe's own onboarding. The account is created in your company's name, and Stripe verifies your business directly — Vento never sees or stores your bank details.
- 2
Card and Klarna appear on the proposal
Once connected, your customer can pay by card on the same page they signed. Klarna rides on the same connection, so offering it is a toggle rather than another account to open.
- 3
Stripe pays you, not us
Charges are made on your connected account and Stripe pays out to your bank on your own schedule. The payment is recorded against the job in Vento, so the invoice and the money stay together.
- Your own Stripe account, in your company's name
- Stripe pays out to your bank, never through Vento
- Card and Klarna on one connection
- Payments reconcile against the job automatically
Card or Direct Debit?
Most installers end up using both, for different halves of the same job. A card deposit is immediate and taken while you are still at the property. The balance is usually the larger figure, and card fees are charged as a percentage — so on a £4,000 installation, collecting the balance by Direct Debit costs considerably less. Vento offers both on the same proposal and records either against the same job.
Common questions
How do air conditioning installers take card payments on a quote?
The installer connects their own Stripe account to Vento through Stripe's onboarding. Card payment then appears as an option on the proposal and payment page, so a customer can pay the deposit on the spot rather than waiting for bank details to arrive by email. The payment is recorded against the job automatically.
Whose Stripe account does the money go into?
The installer's own. Vento uses Stripe Connect, so each installer has a Stripe account in their own company name and Stripe pays out directly to their bank. Vento does not hold customer funds at any point.
What does Vento charge on a payment?
Vento adds a 0.2% platform fee on payments taken through the system, on top of Stripe's own processing fees. It does not change what the customer pays. Stripe's fees are charged by Stripe under your own account's pricing.
Can I offer Klarna as well as card?
Yes. Klarna is offered through the same Stripe connection, so once Stripe is connected it is a setting rather than a separate application. It lets a homeowner spread the cost of an installation without the installer waiting for the money.
Should I take card or Direct Debit for an installation?
Both have a place, and Vento supports both. Card suits a deposit taken on the spot while you are still at the property. Direct Debit is usually cheaper on larger balances, because card fees are charged as a percentage and installations are high-value jobs — see our GoCardless Direct Debit page for how that works.
Is Vento a Stripe partner?
Vento is a Stripe platform: it uses Stripe Connect so installers can take payments through their own Stripe accounts. It is not currently a member of the Stripe Partner Ecosystem, which requires a minimum annual payment volume. The integration itself is live and built on Stripe's standard Connect and Checkout products.
